Obituary for Helene R. Baran

Helene R. Baran, 82, of Enfield, widow of Zbigniew Baran (1984), entered into eternal peace, January 5, 2023 at Saint Francis Hospital. Born in Springfield MA, Helene was the daughter of the late Frank and Veronica (Novak) Rybczyk. She was a lifetime resident of the Enfield community, graduating from Our Lady of the Angels Academy (OLA). She was formerly employed as a legal secretary, before she raised her family. She was later employed by United Airlines Sales Office and followed as a Buyer’s Assistant at Casual Corner until her retirement. She was a longtime communicant of St. Adalbert Church, was a member of the church choir and was highly involved with the holiday church decorating. Helene loved watching sports, especially her favorite teams the Red Sox, Patriots, Bruins and the UConn women’s basketball team. She also enjoyed reading, cooking as well as gardening.
She is survived by three children, Christopher Baran and his wife, Mary of North Carolina, Edward Baran, and Teresa Baran both of Enfield. She also leaves a sister, Frances LaCroix, and her husband Donald of New Hartford, four grandchildren, Heather, Christopher, Sarah, Zachary, and five great grandchildren. Calling hours will be held from 2 to 4 PM on Sunday, January 15, at Leete Stevens Enfield Chapels, 61 South Rd. in Enfield. Family and friends will gather at 10 AM on Monday, January 16, 2023 at Leete Stevens for procession to Holy Family Church of St. Jeanne Jugan Parish, 23 Simon Rd., Enfield for an 11 AM Mass of Christian Burial. Committal will follow at St. Adalbert's cemetery. Donations in Helene’s memory may be made to the American Heart Association at www.heart.org/donate and the American Cancer Society at www.cancer.org
