Obituary for Irene Pehl (Deford)

Irene (Deford) Pehl, 85, of FL, formerly of Enfield, CT, beloved wife of 65 years to Bernard Pehl, entered into Eternal Rest on April 4, 2022. She was born in Enfield, CT on July 25, 1936, daughter of the late Dorothy and Walter Deford. Irene had an adventurous, lively spirit, had a special way of lighting up any room she entered, and would try anything once. As a happily retired resident of Safety Harbor, FL, she enjoyed all types of dancing, knitting, crocheting, shopping, and traveling with her husband and friends. Irene participated in many activities at the community she lived in, Amber Glades, including teaching line dancing.

In addition to her husband Bernard, Irene is survived by her children, Richard Pehl and his wife Joy of Enfield, and Germaine Pehl-Reigal and her husband Peter of Hartford; her grandchildren, Marissa Pehl and her husband Paul Charter of Ellington, Katherine Fairchild of Manchester, Melissa Sokoloski of Simsbury, and Lynn Reigal-Collazo of Hartford; her great grandchildren, Alyxandra Fairchild and Robert Miller Jr.; her sister, Rose Marie “Rusty” Caffrey, her brothers Bill, George, and Rod DeFord and their spouses, and many nieces, nephews, and friends. She was predeceased by her son, baby Bernie Pehl and her grandson, Gary Sokoloski.
