Obituary for Jean W. Nelson (White)



Jean W. Nelson, 92, beloved wife of Roger Nelson, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 10, 2021 at Baystate Medical Center surrounded by her loving family. Born in Enfield, CT on June 9, 1928, she was the daughter of the late George and Violet (Hoskin) White and was a longtime resident of Enfield before moving to Chicopee over 30 years ago. She was a proud graduate of Cathedral High School and attended many of the reunions. Jean worked for the FBI, Sweet Life Foods, then Shriners Hospitals for Children. She is a Past High Priestess of the Ladies Oriental Shrine of North America, Helma Temple 84. She lived a life of service to her family, her community, and her Catholic faith. A loving wife, dedicated mother, and sister, she will be missed by many family and friends. Besides her husband of 32 years, Roger Nelson of Chicopee, she leaves 5 children, Mark Salisbury (Linda) of Florida, Sandra Stone (John) of Windsor Locks, Susan Roy of Kansas, JoAnn Gutkowski (Edward) of Enfield, and Alan Salisbury (Robin) of East Hampton, CT; 2 step sons, Robbie and Larry Nelson of Chicopee, MA; 11 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, and 3 great great grandchildren; her brother George White (Marie) and her sister Marilyn Triolo (Sebastian). A Memorial Service will take place on Friday, January 15, at 11 AM for immediate family.
