Obituary for Jeanne Woska (Schittig)

Jeanne F. Woska, aka “Freckles The Clown”, 73, originally of Howard Beach, NY, peacefully passed away at home on Sunday January 24, 2021 after a long battle with cancer. Jeanne is the daughter of the late Joseph Schittig and Catherine Feeney. She was married for 54 years to the love of her life, Richard C. Woska, whom she met when she was only 13 at a trampoline gym. Jeanne spent the last 40+ years of her career as a professional clown working with Clowns of America International. Jeanne was honored with the “Clown of the Year” award in 2010, a very prestigious award among the Clown community. Jeanne was an artist her entire life, she once painted a mural across an entire room in her house. Her family always joked that all of the rooms in her home would be an inch smaller from the amount of times she painted them. Jeanne dealt with all of her troubles by cracking jokes to make everyone around her smile and feel comfortable, no matter how serious the circumstances. Jeanne was extremely loving and giving to everyone that knew her, whether they were family, friends or acquaintances, everyone felt at home with her. Jeanne’s absence will not go unnoticed. Jeanne is survived by her loving husband, Richard C. Woska, her children Charles Woska and Cathy (Chris) Carroll, her grandchildren Kimberly (Trey) Horne, Cas, Christine and Jessica Carroll. Her great-grandchildren Raygen and Addleigh Horne. Her siblings, Joanne (Thomas) Pigoski, Elizabeth (Patrick) McCarthy, and Jack (Kathy) Schittig. Her nieces and nephews, Judy (Robert), Tommy (Leslie) and Christine (Steve), Michael (Alexis) and Kevin (Tiffany), Sean (Kaitlyn), Brian (Tara) and Kaitlin (Phil). Great nieces and nephews, Kylie, Kerry and Kate, Annabelle and Max, Richard, Delaney and Patrick, Tyler, Ciara and Brayden, Kennedy, Olivia and Ava, and Claire and Kennedy. On her husband’s side, she is survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Joy (Hal) Feininger, and Gary (Lynn) Woska. Her nieces and nephews, Bill (Helen), Lynne (Bob), Carol (Craig) and Chip (Cindy), and David (Alissa) and Scott (Sharon), and great nieces and nephews Katie, Lauren and Dan, Philip and Jenny, Mandy and CJ, Riley, Zachary and Patrick, Andrew and Elle, and Jason and Evan. Prayer of a Clown:
Help me to create more laughter than tears, dispense more happiness than gloom, spread more cheer than despair.

Never let me grow so big that I will fail to see the wonder in the eyes of a child, or a twinkle in the eyes of the aged.

Never let me forget that I am a CLOWN... that my work is to cheer people up, make them happy, and make them laugh, make them forget momentarily all the unpleasant things in their lives.

Never let me jeopardize the integrity of clowndom by improper conduct. Help me to always make others proud of my actions as a clown.

Never let me acquire financial success to the point where I will discontinue calling upon my Creator in the hour of plenty.
