John T. "Jack" Curran, 79, of Enfield, passed away peacefully and surrounded by his loving family on June 9, 2022. Son of the late John Joseph and Gertrude (Foran) Curran he was born on July 4, 1942.
Jack grew up in East Hartford, and moved to Enfield after marrying his beautiful bride Joan. They married on his birthday, July 4, 1968 and have shared 54 years of marriage. In retirement, they moved to New Smyrna Beach, Florida, before moving back to Somers in 2017 to be closer to family, ultimately settling right back in Enfield this past October. Jack spent 30 years working as a foreman at Dexter's, and he also enjoyed his time as a shuttle driver with Manchester Honda. Jack was a communicant of St. Patrick's Church in Enfield, an Elks Club Life Member for 59 years most recently with the Sanford FL Elks No. 1241. Jack loved camping and was a seasonal camper at Mineral Springs in Stafford. He also caught the golf bug early on in his retirement. They were fortunate enough to travel during their retirement years with their most memorable trip being to Hawaii. Family was the most important thing to Jack. Some of his happiest times were watching his grandchildren in their sporting events, concerts and recitals. The family would also like to thank Eileen Markowski for the loving care she provided him during his tough final months.
Besides his loving wife Joan, Jack is survived by his children, John Curran Jr. and his wife Kristin of Somers, and Mary Maiolo and her husband Jeffrey of Enfield; his grandchildren Ashley Gilman and her husband Caleb of Vermont, Stephanie Maiolo of Hartford and Anthony Maiolo of Enfield, and Tyler Curran and Katelyn Curran of Somers; and his sister Trudy Keller.
