John Malcolm Kress of Enfield, 81, died on Thursday, June 2nd, at Baystate Medical Center. Born on February 21st, 1941 in Baldwin, NY, "Jack" - as he was known to his family and close friends, was the only son of John Kress and Ruth Kress. After serving in the US Navy he pursued a career in wholesale food distribution and sales, where his irrepressible cheeky sense of humor and natural charisma made him a favorite with his clients and colleagues. He loved to fish. He loved to cook. There wasn't a football/basketball/baseball/hockey game he wouldn't watch. He adored his grandchildren and never missed an opportunity to chat about how proud he was of them. Even when he was hospitalized due to bouts of serious illness, he would laugh and joke with all the physicians and nurses assigned to his care. His silly and bawdy sort of charm could never be suppressed.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 44 years, Alice, his four beloved children, Kurt, Winona, Keith, and Shaun, and his six wonderful grandchildren, Julia, Owen, Taylor, Ryan, Sydney, and Jason. A private family service will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Jack's name to Volunteers for Wildlife of Long Island. https://www.volunteersforwildlife.org/
