Joseph S. Netolicky, Sr. passed from this world on April 20, 2021 with his loving family and dear friend Jean Stoecker beside him at his home in Windsor Locks. He was 83. Joseph was born in Windsor Locks to the late Joseph Netolicky and Veronica (Stick) Netolicky on February 16, 1938. He resided there until joining the Air Force in 1955, serving 4 years at Ellsworth Air Force Base, SD followed by 2 additional years in the reserves. During his time in the Air Force, Joseph was relocated for 2 weeks to Glasgow Air Force Base in Montana. In his last days at that base, he met the love of his life, Carol Ann Austin, of whom he courted by letter and telephone after returning to CT following his discharge from the Air Force.
The couple married in Glasgow on November 21, 1961 and moved back to Windsor Locks to raise their two boys, Joseph A. Netolicky and Alvin J. Netolicky. Together the family traveled to Montana to visit Carol's family. They vacationed through Wyoming, Yellowstone, and Canada and saw most of the northern United States. Joe and Carol took a Grand Tour of the Western US on their 25th wedding anniversary. They also spent quality time in CT, fishing on area lakes with their boys.
These fishing trips led Joe to begin "Joe's Bass Bait and Tackle", operating from 1965 until the present while he was also employed by Hamilton Standard for over 35 years. Joe excelled with the business, making it both freshwater and saltwater accessible, and has served much of New England for 56 years. His wife Carol assumed the role of manager, and the soulmates worked side by side during their marriage of over 59 years. Joe lived for his business and enjoyed every customer. In his honor, the business will continue its operation under his son Al and Carol.
Joe's family would like to extend a special thank you to his hospice caregivers, Roger, Dina, Megan, and Elise for their compassionate care of Joe during his last journey with Alzheimer's.
In addition to his wife and soulmate, Carol, Joe is survived by his sons; Joseph A. Netolicky and his wife Michelle, and Alvin J. Netolicky; his grandchildren, Dustin Netolicky, and Hope Courtney Netolicky, all of Windsor Locks; his brother, Emanuel Netolicky of SC; his dear cousin Walter Czyzniak and his wife Loretta, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister, Mary DeLisle.
