Obituary for Joyce Ann Valente (Baird)
Joyce Ann (Baird) Valente, 89, of Windsor Locks, beloved wife of 68 years to Louis B. Valente, entered into eternal rest on Monday, June 12, 2023. She was born in Hartford on June 6, 1934, daughter of the late Leslie and Omeline (Roberts) Baird. Joyce was a longtime resident of Windsor Locks and a faithful communicant of St. Mary Church. She enjoyed annual vacations to Hampton Beach, shopping trips, a good game of cards, and a relaxing cocktail. Joyce especially cherished time spent with her family. A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, friend, and neighbor, her generous nature and wonderful sense of humor will be missed by many.
In addition to her beloved husband Louis, Joyce is survived by her children, Ken Valente and his wife Mary, and Susan Sussina, all of Windsor Locks, and Thomas Valente and his wife Susan of Springfield, MA. She also leaves her grandchildren, Erin Omicioli and her husband Bryan, Katherine Valente, Brianna Anderson and her husband George, Sarah West-Paley and her husband Jim, and Stephanie Sussina and her boyfriend Nick; her great grandchildren, William, Elijah, Luciana, Jackson, and Oliver, and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her grandson, John Sussina, her sister, Barbara Sylvester, her brother-in-law, Dave Sylvester and her son-in-law William Sussina.
Joyce's family will receive relatives and friends from 9:30 to 10:30 on Saturday July 1, 2023 at the Windsor Locks Funeral Home, 441 Spring St, Windsor Locks. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 am at St Mary Church, 42 Spring St, Windsor Locks. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family.
