Obituary for Katey I. Austin
On March 25, 2021, Katey Austin died in Stafford, Connecticut. She was 88 years old.
Katey is survived by her two daughters, Sheri Murphy of Maine and Kathy Austin of Ellington , Connecticut; Katey had five grandchildren, Robert Galbraith and his wife Elizabeth of Providence, Rhode Island, Matthew Galbraith of Maine, Joshua Luman and his wife Shams of Maine , and Jon Austin of California, Ashley Austin and her husband Ray of Ellington, Connecticut. Katey had two great grandchildren, Austin and Dakota. Tyler Lusa and his children also held a special place in Katey and her husband Charles’ heart.
Katey was born in West Virginia and had 7 siblings. After the tragic loss of both of her parents she lived in New York City with her sister, Juanita Bonta, until she married.
Katey was married to Charles Austin in 1951 and he passed away in 2015. They enjoyed a long marriage and many happy memories. One of their favorite pastimes was boating but beyond that, they loved entertaining the family. Katey’s culinary skills were brilliant.
Katey was a volunteer at Johnson Hospital for many years, was a member of the Auxiliary Police in Enfield, Connecticut, and played an active role in Somer’s Women’s Club.
