Obituary for Kenneth G. Shover Jr.

Kenneth G. “Kenny” Shover, 85, passed away at his home on Sunday, November 6, 2022. Kenny was the last living child of three children born to the late Kenneth G. and Blanche (Brunette) Shover. He was born in Burlington, VT on January 30, 1937 and graduated from Vergennes Union High School in Vergennes, VT. He enlisted in the U.S. Army, Infantry and was honorably discharged in 1958.

Kenny began his career at Pratt & Whitney in the engineering division but was most known for his career as a car salesman at Balch’s in East Windsor, CT.

He was a talented artist and woodworker, loved bowling, fishing, NASCAR and music. He left his doodles on many napkins and he enjoyed singing karaoke.

He leaves his four children, Kim, Bonnie, Charlie and Joel and their mother Dee. He also leaves his grandchildren, Jackie, Matthew, Nicholas, Nick, Amanda, Mark, Dom, Brandon, Ryan, Kevin and Allyson, as well as many nieces and nephews.

He is now reunited with his beloved Joyce and their fur-ever companions, Missy, Dennis and Pixie and his grandson Tanner.

He never had the opportunity to attend RISD, but that didn’t stop him artistically. He left his mark in South Windsor, East Windsor and Enfield. From pin-striping cars to the outfield boundary advertising on baseball fields, to Balch’s showroom windows, and Fall Festival signs, his free-hand art can still be seen. His largest canvas was the barn with the “Never Knowingly Undersold” dachshund by Henry’s Pizza and he’d be pleased that the South Windsor American Legion baseball team still wears the logo he designed.
