Obituary for Laura A. Danek (Ingemi)

Laura A. (Ingemi) Danek of Enfield, loving wife of 59 years to the late Edward Danek, passed peacefully into the arms of the Lord on May 29, 2021, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in South Barre, MA on March 13, 1924, daughter of the late Anthony and Lucia (Panaccione) Ingemi. Laura was raised in North Brookfield, MA, attended St. Joseph’s Grammar School and graduated from North Brookfield High School. She was a proud member of the Daughters of Isabella. Laura was an Executive Secretary at Warren Pumps in Warren, MA for 20 years, before leaving to take on her calling to raise her sons.

Laura was a faithful communicant of Holy Family Church since its founding in 1966. She served or participated in Holy Family Women’s Guild, Rosary Guild, Legion of Mary, and St. Vincent de Paul Society. Laura was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, godmother, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend. She attended daily Mass, could always be counted on to assist a friend in need, lend an encouraging word, and never forgot a relative or friend’s birthday or special occasion. Laura was a gifted writer who was never known to misspell a word as an adult. Auntie Laura was also known for her scotcharoo desserts which were a big hit at family gatherings.

Laura was the proud and loving mother of two sons Edward, Jr. and his wife Anne of Suffield, CT and John and his wife Noreen of Cromwell, CT; three grandchildren whom she adored, Stephanie Danek, Eddie Danek III, and Dave Danek. Laura was predeceased by her siblings, Sister Natalie Ingemi, Josephine Beaudette, Grace Gaudette, Irene Figoni, Mary Prescott, and John Ingemi. She also leaves over 45 cherished nieces and nephews, not to mention countless friends and neighbors, who have added much joy to her life over the years.

Calling hours will be held on Thursday, June 10, 2021 from 5 – 8 p.m. at Leete-Stevens Enfield Chapels, 61 South Road, Enfield. Family and friends may gather Friday, June 11 at 9:30 a.m. at Leete-Stevens for a procession to Holy Family Church of St. Jeanne Jugan Parish, 23 Simon Road, Enfield for a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Westfield, MA.
