Obituary for Lorraine V Bahl (Vriga)

Lorraine Bahl, 85, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 9, 2022 surrounded by her loving family. Lorraine was born on April 30, 1937 in Thompson, Connecticut to the late Dumnica (Vanghele) Vriga and Thimia Vriga. She is predeceased by her sister Elizabeth Vriga and her brother Theodore Vriga. Lorraine lived in Enfield, CT with her husband of 59 years, Earl. She spent the early years of her married life as a stay at home mom, raising their four children. She is survived by her daughter Lisa Boguszewski and her husband Mike of Putnam, Ct, Ted Bahl and his wife Julie of Suffield, CT, Jennifer Potter and her husband Art of Chicopee, MA and Michael Bahl and his wife Claudia of Boulder, CO. Lorraine volunteered her time at Holy Family Parish and within the Enfield school system while raising their four children. She spent 19 years in the Johnson Memorial Hospital Billing Department before retiring in 2000. Her subsequent years were spent traveling throughout the United States , to Ireland and Bermuda with her husband and gambling at the casinos, shopping with her sisters and daughters, or just driving her cherished PT Cruiser. One of the greatest joys of her life was being Maia to her seven grandchildren and attending the many athletic events they participated in. Her home is adorned with many beautiful pictures that she cross-stitched over the years. Lorraine is survived by her eldest brother Tasi Vriga of Quinebaug, CT, and her loving sister and best friend Louise Pavlech and her husband Richard of Broad Brook, CT. She also leaves behind her beloved seven grandchildren, Katherine and her husband Ryan, Adam, Peter and his wife Liz, Artie, Hannah, Daniel and Abby along with many nieces and nephews. Lorraine was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend and she will be missed by all of her family and friends who loved her.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Lorraine’s family at St George Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 22 St. George Rd, Springfield, MA from 11-12 for visitation on September 16 followed by a mass. Burial will follow in St. Patrick King St Cemetery, Enfield.
