Obituary for Lorraine Lyman (Gladden)

Lorraine “Lorrie” (Gladden) Lyman, 59, of Somers Connecticut passed away, surrounded by family and friends, on May 23, 2023 after a year and a half long, courageous battle with Diffuse Gastric Cancer. Lorrie was born on December 11, 1963 to Ernest and Carol Gladden of Granby Connecticut and was a 1981 graduate from Granby Memorial High School.
Lorrie was predeceased by her father.
Lorrie was most known as the “cheerful, energetic farmer and passionate artist”. She harvested the most delicious produce and created beautiful folk art, filling her farm stand at Rushmore Farm in Somers, CT for over a decade. She was most recently the owner of Gigis Native produce stand in Enfield, CT. She loved to strike up conversations with everyone and her favorite topic was sharing her faith. She loved her friends and customers who would visit her farm stand. Their conversations and connections enriched her life. She was a community servant, active with local charities, particularly in donating fresh produce to those in need, with “Serve it forward”. She loved animals, especially her horse Shiloh. On any given day at the farm, you would find Lorrie either digging in the dirt or with a trail of chickens, donkeys, cows or horses following at her heels.
She loved her family most, calling herself blessed. She was a great wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt, friend and grandmother. She was very, very loved by all who knew her. Lorrie devoted herself to sharing the word of God with others. She was a member of Cornerstone Church in East Longmeadow, MA. She was grateful to be a part of a congregation of people who exemplified the hands and feet of Jesus. Her church family came to visit, pray and worship with Lorrie even when she could not attend, all the way until the end of her life. Her cancer journey was hard, she suffered well, and her life advice would be to volunteer, give cheerfully, connect with nature, and forgive someone who doesn't deserve it.
Lorrie is survived by her husband, Thomas Lyman, mother, Carol (Porter-Gladden) Nielsen and husband Willard Nielson, brother Barry Gladden and wife Mika , sister Debbie Bailey and husband Marco, niece, Rilla Carnrike and husband Jeremy, six children, Angela (Pinto) Ennis and husband Nathan, Carolanne(Pinto)Vining, and husband Andy, Michael Pinto Jr. and wife Allison, Joey Pinto, Andrew Lyman and Todd Lyman, and her 11 grandchildren, Alexis Hosmer, Lily Hosmer, Allyson Ennis, Brooke Ennis, Ben D’Aloisio, Jeannette D’Aloisio, Kodi Vining, Linkin Vining, Katalina Pinto, Hucksley Pinto and Charlotte Pinto.
A memorial gathering will be held at Cornerstone Church on Saturday June 3rd at 12:00 until 2:30 pm, Cornerstone Church, 15 Kibbe Rd , East Longmeadow, MA 01028. All are welcome to attend.
