Obituary for Marjorie E Steinert (Toole)

Peggy Steinert passed away on January 8, 2021 in Sarasota, Florida, where she resided with her granddaughter, Paige Soper and her husband, Gary Soper. Peggy was born in Brazil, IN on February 13, 1924 to Carl and Catharine Toole. She spent most of her formative years in Valporaiso, IN and made many life-long friends there. She served in the Navy during World War II where she met her husband, Richard Steinert who was serving in the Army and predeceased her in August of 2017. Peggy was an active member of the Hazardville Methodist Church and served as the Church treasurer for several years. She was also an active member of PEO for over 60 years. She loved reading mystery books and spent many hours knitting afghans, caps, scarves and mittens for her family and for the church. She was an avid cross stitcher and made many quilts for her family and for donation. Peggy is survived by her daughter, Kathie Steinert and her wife, Michelle LaVallee; 2 sons, John Steinert and his girlfriend Kathryn Pepe; and Richard Steinert and his wife, Christine Duhon Steinert, as well as her two granddaughters, Laine Steinert and her fiance, Matthew Boyden and Paige Soper and her husband, Gary Soper, as well as her niece, Pat Toole and nephews David Toole and Ralph Steinert.
Services for Peggy will be held privately at the convenience of the family. The family would like to thank Take Care in Sarasota, Florida and especially Dainelle White for the care and support they gave Peggy and the family during her illness .
