Obituary for Martha Paxi (Zegarra)

Martha Zegarra de Paxi, 82, of East Hartford, beloved wife of Javier L. Paxi, passed away Monday, March
22, 2021. Born in Lima, Peru on July 29, 1938. Martha was predeceased by her parents Manuel Zegarra
and Rogelia Mejia de Zegarra and her sister Carmen Zegarra. She is survived by her sisters, Enriqueta
Zegarra de Paxi and her husband Martin Abraham Paxi, Yolanda Zegarra de Talavera and her husband
Oscar Tavara, Luz Zegarra de Zanabria and her late husband Edilberto Zanabria.
Her husband will never forget her, she will always be in his heart, they were married for 54 years and
had four children, Javier and his wife Andrea, Miguel and his wife Anna, Martha Paxi and her husband
John D. Thomas and Rafael and his wife Maria. She leaves her grandchildren, Jessica, Vanessa, Marko,
Sophia and Natalia who she loved very much as well as her many nieces and nephews.
She left Peru when she was in her mid-forties and started a new life in the United States for the benefit
of her children. She made a lot of sacrifices and did everything she could for her family. She was
happiest when she was with her family. We will miss her smile. We will miss the many times she would
say she was full from dinner until she realized there was dessert to be had. She was an excellent cook
making delicious Peruvian dishes and desserts. We will miss the many hugs and the many moments in
our lives that she made so special.
