Obituary for Mary Ann Provost (Ryan)

Mary Ann P. (Ryan) Provost, 89, Colchester, widow of the late Terrence R. Provost, entered into Eternal Peace on Sunday, April 10, 2022. Mary Ann was born on March 2, 1933, the loving daughter of the late Charles and Florence (O'Neil) Ryan. Mary Ann was a proud Navy wife, traveling wherever her husband's career took them, including living in the Philippines and Hawaii after he retired from the Navy, giving her many stories she loved to reflect on. She made her home in Somers, CT, then moved to Colchester, CT during her retirement years. She was a former communicant of All Saints Church in Somersville and a member of the Catholic Daughters. Alongside her husband, Mary Ann enjoyed ballroom dancing and enjoyed many cruises. She was an animal lover, particularly adoring dogs and birds. Her greatest joy was being a mother, and later being blessed to become a grandmother, great grandmother, and great-great grandmother. Mary Ann was dedicated to her family and will be deeply missed. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by a son, Richard Provost; and a sister and brother-in-law, Florence Heron and her husband, James. Mary Ann is survived by her children, Susan Jenkins and her husband, Danny of Colchester, Dennis Provost and his wife, Ruth of Salem, Terrence Provost and his wife, Debby, of Hartland, Thomas Provost of Gales Ferry, and Chris Provost and his wife, Deborah, of Ellington; grandchildren, Kelly, Ryan, Steven, Amanda, Jennifer, Amy, Jessica, Kyle, Cory, Jordyn, Benjamin, and Nathan; 11 great grandchildren; and a great-great grandchild. Relatives and friends are invited to join the family for calling hours on Monday, April 18, 2022, from 12- 2 pm at Somers Funeral Home, 354 Main St., Somers, CT 06071. A service will begin at the funeral home at 2:00 pm. Burial will follow at Somers Center Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made in Mary Ann's memory to the animal shelter of the donor's choice.
