Mary Fontana, 83, of Enfield, entered into eternal peace, Sunday October 23, 2022 at home surrounded by her family. Mary was born and raised in Hartford. She was the daughter of the late Vito and Josephine (DiMauro) Fontana. Mary lived in the Enfield community for the past 10 years. She was retired from Cigna after 15 years with the company. In her free time, she enjoyed sewing and was an excellent seamstress. As an avid volunteer, she was always ready to help individuals and organizations in need. She was also a force to be reckoned with at the bowling alley as she was a champion duckpin bowler, playing (and usually winning) until the age of 65.
Mary is survived by two children, William Griggs of Hartford, and Holly Fontana of Enfield, two grandchildren, Isabella and Sebastian Fontana, daughter-in-law, Stefanie Fontana of Enfield, a brother, Frank Fontana of Enfield, as well as several nieces and nephews. The family is forever grateful to caregiver, Jenny Nazario for her heart and humor. She was predeceased by a brother, Sebastian "Sonny" Fontana.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10a.m. Thursday, Nov. 3, 2022 at St. Patrick - St. Anthony Church, 285 Church St., Hartford. (Please meet at Church). Committal will follow at Mt. St. Benedict Cemetery in Bloomfield.
