Obituary for Michael Patrick Gilhooly

Michael Patrick Gilhooly passed away unexpectedly on August 14, 2022. He left this world the same way he lived his life, to the fullest.
Born June 16, 1953 to John and Audrey Gilhooly, he was raised in Enfield, CT graduating from Enfield High School in 1972. He started his career at United Technologies Corporations and recently retired from Home Depot - Home Services.
Michael was an active member of the community. He proudly served as a volunteer fireman for Glastonbury Fire Department, Co. 4 for 19 years. He was a man of faith and served as a catechism teacher at St. Dunstan’s church. During his years of retirement, he volunteered at the Windsor Locks Canal.
Michael was a man of many talents, hobbies, and skills. He kept active skiing every chance he got, played horseshoes, softball, fishing, kayaking and golf. He was an avid gardener at Hilltop Community Garden and was famous for his many woodworking projects. His summers were spent in Rhode Island at his beach playground with his many friends.
Michael is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Candace (Swinarski) Gilhooly and daughters Alyssa (Gilhooly) & Bobby Nerbonne, and Stacy Gilhooly & Matthew Ibos. He is also survived by his mother, Audrey Gilhooly, siblings John Gilhooly Jr, Maureen & Richard Peak, Patrick Gilhooly, Ann Rajpold, Matthew & Lisa Gilhooly, Brigid Gilhooly, Justin & Ellen Gilhooly, Brendan & Angela Gilhooly, Daniel & Mayuri Gilhooly, and George Guimond as well as many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father, John Gilhooly, his daughter, Lisa Marie Gilhooly, and his beloved companion, Zoie.
Relatives and friends are welcome to join the family from 2 to 4 PM on August 21st at Leete-Stevens Funeral Home, 61 South Road, Enfield, CT 06082. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 AM on August 22nd at Sacred Heart Church, 446 Mountain Road, Suffield, CT 06078. Burial will follow at St. Patrick’s Cemetery in Enfield.
