Michael A. Ryan, Sr., age 79, of Stage Rd., Enfield, died peacefully on Sunday, January 19, 2020 in his home surrounded by family. Michael was the son of William V. Ryan and Mary (Grady) Ryan. He was born in Poughkeepsie, NY on June 10, 1940 and later moved to CT where he joined the US Air Force in 1963. He served his first 15 years in the Motor Pool before moving on and furthering his education as an Avionics Electronics Technician. He specialized in aircraft sensor systems for the last 12 years of his service, retiring in 1990. He served with honor and integrity and was honorably discharged with many accolades and awards along the way and served a total of 27 years and was a Master Sergeant, USAF. He belonged to Local 84 where he was very involved with many areas and made life-long friends who became family. He also joined the Hartford Symphony Orchestra which he enjoyed immensely. He was passionate about old cars and restoring them. He was an avid golfer, loved to read and spend time with his family. Michael is survived by his 3 children, Michelle Ryan and her husband David, Michael Ryan, Jr. and his wife Lisa and Jennifer Ryan. He adored his 4 grandchildren, Donny Stachelek, Ashley Stachelek, Cas Asa, and Maegan Ryan Alderman. He was predeceased by his wife of 50 years, Gail (Palumbo) Ryan, on July 16, 2013. He is survived by 3 brothers, Jack and June Ryan, Jim and Sara Ryan, and Ed and Cathy Ryan. His other siblings and parents all predeceased him. Calling hours will be held on Friday, January 24 from 10-11 AM at Leete-Stevens Enfield Chapels, 61 South Rd., Enfield, followed by a Funeral Service at 11 AM. Burial with Military Honors will follow in Hazardville Cemetery, Enfield. Michael died as he wanted to be in his own home that he added beautiful additions, rooms, decks, and patios.
