Michael Patrick Shaw, 68, of Enfield. Beloved husband of Miriam Shaw (Prato) passed away on Monday, December 12th, 2022 at Village Green of Bristol. He was born in West Haven, Connecticut, on October 18th, 1954. He was the son of the late Anna Rose Gouveia (Napoletano). Michael joined the United States Army National Guard of Connecticut in 1975,which he proudly served for 29 years. His highest rank achieved throughout his military career was First Sergeant, which he obtained at 242nd Engineer Battalion, Bravo Company. This is also the highest noncommissioned officer ranking a soldier can achieve. Bravo Company is also where he culminated his long military career. He worked at Pratt and Whitney for 25 years, and then transitioned to work as an Area Accounting Manager for Signature Flight Group, up until his retirement. Michael was a parishioner of Holy Family Church. He was an avid sports fan, especially the New York Yankees, Boston Celtics, Hartford Wolfpack, and New England Patriots. If he was not able to attend a game, he would ensure to figure out a way to watch them. Besides his wife, Miriam, of 47 years, he leaves three children, Jason Shaw, Jennifer Shaw, and Justin Shaw; eight grandchildren, Matthew, Victoria, Freya, Mya, Landin, Henry, Cayden, and McKenna; and four siblings, Joseph Gouveia, Peter Gouveia, Maryann Bouchard, and John Gouveia; along with many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Calling hours for friends and family will be on Sunday, December 18th, from 2:00-4:00 PM at Leete-Stevens Enfield Chapels, 61 South Road, Enfield. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Monday, December 19th, at 11:00 AM, St. Jeanne Jugan Parish at Holy Family, 23 Simon Road, Enfield, with Military Honors at the end of the Mass. Burial will be private at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to the ALS Foundation.
