Obituary for Raymond F Madsen

Raymond Frank Madsen, 93, of Enfield, beloved husband of 66 years to Ann (Richardson) Madsen, peacefully passed away on Friday, March 25, 2022 at St Francis Hospital. He was born in Bloomfield on December 1, 1928 to the late Howard T. and Anna (Borman) Madsen. Raymond proudly served his country in the United States Navy aboard the USS Oriskany from 1948 – 1952. During his residency in Bloomfield, he also served on the Bloomfield Volunteer Fire Dept. In 1955 he and his wife settled in Enfield, and became members of the Enfield Congregational Church. Raymond also coached Little League Baseball and was a member of the Enrico Fermi High School Booster Club. Raymond was employed in plant security with Pratt and Whitney for over 35 years. Outside of work, he loved spending time with his sons and grandchildren. He faithfully attended their after school activities and sporting events, and was ever present at special occasions throughout their lives. He also enjoyed playing cards with friends, swimming, bike riding, dancing, and was an avid fan of UCONN basketball and the Red Sox. Raymond was also known as a successful matchmaker for several family members. His family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff and nurses at Suffield House for their compassionate care of Ray during these last few months, and also to dear friends George, Patty and Diane for their help and support during these difficult days.

In addition to his beloved wife Ann, Raymond leaves behind two sons, Peter Madsen and his wife Lisa, and Jim Madsen and his wife Cindy; his daughter-in-law, Joanne Madsen; his foster daughter, Ellen Sprague and her husband Perry; one granddaughter, Melissa Madsen and her fiancé Kevin Scott; five grandsons, Jeremy Madsen and his wife Katie, Joel Madsen and his wife Alanna, Jonathan Madsen and his wife Marie, Connor Madsen, and Danny Vincenzo and his wife Marci; and ten great grandchildren, Aiden, Nick, Hannah, Cameron, Taylor, Declan, Juniper, Ford, Santana, and Lily. He was predeceased by his son Richard “Dickie” Madsen, and his brothers, Walter and Howard Madsen.
