Obituary for Robert Alan Burgess

> Robert "Bob" Alan Burgess, 70, of Windsor Locks, beloved husband of Bernadette (Stahl) Burgess for 48 years, passed away at home, Friday, June 7, 2019. Bob was born in Holyoke, MA, the son of the late Norman and Dorothy Burgess (Geaughan) and was raised in Chicopee MA. He and Bernadette had lived throughout the United States and abroad before settling down in Windsor Locks. Robert served his country honorably in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He was employed by Opus for the past 11 years and was a 4th Degree member of the Knights of Columbus. In his free time, Bob enjoyed gardening and agility dog training with his beloved Cocker Spaniels. Besides his wife Bernadette, he leaves four children, Dagmar Berry and her husband Doug of Highland, TX, Ulrike Monzillo and her husband Joseph of Springfield, MA, Andrew Zeiger of Germany, and Robert A. Burgess Jr. and his wife Tracy of West Granby, CT, two brothers, Norman Burgess and his wife Mary of Granby, MA, Garry Burgess and his wife Cynthia of West Springfield MA, a sister, Joann Burgess of Richmond RI, nine grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. He also leaves his beloved pets and faithful companions, Bart, Shadow, Buster, and Raven. Visitation hours will be held from 5-7 p.m. Thursday, June 13, 2019 at Windsor Locks Funeral Home, 441 Spring St., Windsor Locks. Committal services, with military honors, will be held at the MA Veterans Memorial Cemetery Chapel, 1390 Main St, Agawam, MA, Friday, June 14, at 10 a.m. Donations in Bob's memory may be made to Wounded Warriors Project, PO Box 758516, Topeka, KS 66675-85.
