Obituary for Robert E. Landry

Robert E. (Bob) Landry, 83, of Somers, CT entered into Eternal Rest on Thursday, February 25, 2021 at Evergreen Healthcare Center. Robert was born in the village of Collinsville in the town of Canton, CT on February 17, 1938, the loving son of the late Alphonse and Lydia (Pinette) Landry. Bob graduated from Trinity College in Hartford, CT and proudly served our country in the United States Air Force.He enjoyed a distinguished career for 30 years as a contract manager at Combustion Engineering/ABB/Alstom Power. He was a member of American Legion Post 101 and an avid golfer who enjoyed participating in the Rockville/Enfield Golf League at Cedar Knob. He especially enjoyed a good round of laughs at the 19th hole. Bob served on the Board at Woodcrest Housing for the Elderly for several years as wellas on the Somers Zoning Board.Everyone that met Bob liked him. He was easygoing and always smiling. He was a gentleman with a fun-loving sense of humorwho enjoyedjoking around and making people laugh…especially his family! His greatest achievement in life was receiving his private pilot’s license which he often used to fly his golf buddies to Cape Cod. He cherished the memories made with his loved ones during family get-togethers and trips to Ogunquit, Maine and Cape Cod, MA. Robert is survived by his beloved wife, Beverly (Cramer) Landry of Somers; two children, Deanna M. Landry Rivera (Esteban, Jr.) and Michael J. Gauvine; seven grandchildren, Anthony, Christopher, and Jordon Roberson, Lauren and Nathan Gauvine, and India and Esteban “Trey” Rivera III; two great grandchildren, Avery and Christopher, Jr; and a sister-in-law, Phyllis Landry. He was predeceased by a daughter, Pamela Landry Roberson; a sister, Evelyn Kucia; and a brother, Joseph Roland Landry. Due to Covid, there will not be a traditional wake and church service. For those who would like to attend, there will be a graveside service, with military honors, that will be held on Friday, March 5, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. at Somers Center Cemetery, 81 Battle Street, Somers, CT 06071.
