Obituary for Robert C. Oliva

Robert C. "Bobby O" Oliva, 84, cherished husband of the late Alice (McCarthy) Oliva, entered into eternal peace March 1, 2024, at Hartford Hospital surrounded by family. Born in Hartford to the late William and Frances (Tornielli) Oliva, Bob was a steadfast resident of the Windsor Locks community throughout his lifetime.

Bob dedicated 35 years of his life to teaching within the Windsor Locks public schools, leaving an indelible mark on countless lives.His passion for social studies and commitment to education went beyond textbooks; he instilled invaluable life lessons in his students, shaping not just their minds but also their characters.

A devout member of St. Robert Bellarmine Church, Bob was deeply involved in his community. He held membership in the Knights of Columbus (4th Degree) in Windsor Locks and was named the 1989 Windsor Locks Man of the Year by the Lions Club. Bob also served as the Registrar of Voters for many years, contributing to the democratic process of his town.

During summers, Bob found joy and purpose as the Pool Director at Pesci Pool for 25 fulfilling years. His love for literature was evident in his avid reading habits, enriching his life and those around him.

Bob leaves behind a legacy of love and family. He is survived by his four children and daughter-in-law Robert (Laurie) Oliva, Lisa (Glenn) Prebit, Kelly (Charlie) Famiglietti, Maria (Mickey) George, and Mylinda Oliva along with 16 grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Besides his wife, he was predeceased by his son Kevin C. Oliva and his brother, Donald Oliva.

Visitation hours will be held from 4-7 PM Friday March 8, 2024 at Windsor Locks Funeral Home, 441 Spring St., Windsor Locks. A procession will begin at the funeral home at 9 AM Saturday March 9, 2024 for a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10 AM at St. Robert Bellarmine Church, 52 South Elm St. Windsor Locks. Burial will be private.
