Obituary for Roland J. LeDuc

Roland J. LeDuc, 98, of Enfield, beloved husband for 72 years of the late Martha Dean (Maddox) LeDuc, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 31, 2020 at Countryside Manor in Bristol. Son of the late Adrien and Olivine (Tanguay) LeDuc, he was born in Holyoke, MA and raised in South Hadley, MA. Roland joined the US Army and served as a Tec 5 in the 10th Armored Division under General Patton during World War II. He was a proud member of the American Legion, Post # 80. Roland and his wife lived in Enfield for over 54 years and he worked for the United States Postal Service in Enfield for 25 years before retiring. He was a longtime parishioner of St. Patrick’s Church in Enfield. Roland enjoyed traveling and his many adventures to Alaska and Hawaii. He stayed by his wife’s side in the nursing home for 4 years until her passing in July of 2018. He did countless puzzles which he framed and gave to his daughter Karen. His favorite shows which he never missed each night were Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune. Roland loved to go to Walmart and ride in the electric cart, getting whatever he wanted, especially his chocolates and goodies. He is survived by three children, Darlene Smith and her husband Herbert of Suffield, CT, Donald LeDuc and his wife Julie of Longmeadow, MA, and Karen LeDuc-Warren of Ellington, CT; eight grandchildren, and seven great grandchildren; and his brother, Richard LeDuc. He was predeceased by two sisters, Irene Marcotte and Doris Beaudry and a brother, Roger LeDuc. Services will be held privately with a Celebration of Life to be held in the Spring. Burial with Military Honors will be in the MA Veterans' Memorial Cemetery in Agawam, MA. Donations in Roland’s memory may be made to the American Alzheimer's Assn., 225 N.
