Selma (Larson) Grant, age 91, of the Melrose section of East Windsor, wife of Philip M. Grant, died on December 24, 2020.She was born on March 4, 1929 to the late Signe (Zetterquist) and Harry Larson in Roxbury, Connecticut where she lived until graduating from the Washington, Connecticut high school. She graduated from the University of Connecticut School of Agriculture where she met her husband, with whom she was beginning their 70thyear of marriage. Selma was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was a hard-working farm wife. She and Phil owned and operated the family dairy farm in Melrose. In her younger years she drove farm trucks and tractors, had a quarter acre garden, canned and froze vegetables and did yard work and home repairs. She continued to love outdoor work in her older years, and also did oil paintings, rock painting, and arts and crafts, and wrote fun poetry. Selma was friendly and well-liked by others. She was determined, organized, encouraging to others and always looked for the silver lining in every circumstance. Selma was apart-time postal clerk in the Melrose Post Office for 22 years, retiring in1990. She became a member of the Broad Brook Congregational Church in 1952,where she served on the Missions Committee, Board of Trustees, Stewardship and Friendship Committees, and was the church historian for several years. She was also a charter member of the Melrose School Preservation Committee and of the “Home Runners.” Besides her husband, Selma is survived by her children: Lois Audinot and husband Vicente of Melrose, George Grant and wife Leslie of Somers, Donald Grant and wife Ruth Phillips-Grant of Melrose, and son-in-law Stanley Chandler of Melrose. She also eaves six grand-daughters: Christa Grant and husband Matthew Lorthioir, Signe Audinot, Shiloh Mahmood and husband Christopher, Kathryn Grant, Christine Grant, and Natalie Audinot and fiancé Michael Lord; and a step-grandson Jason Argiros. In addition, she leaves six great-grand-daughters: Anna, Sarai, Brynja, Noelle, Elia and Camille. Selma was pre-deceased by her daughter Elizabeth Chandler as well as by three sisters and one brother. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
