Vera Elizabeth (King) Felix, 89 of Somers, passed away Tuesday December 17, 2019. Born in New Haven, CT, November 8, 1930daughter of the late Bertram and Sylvia King, Vera resided the majority of her life in Enfield and Somers bringing her historical insights on the ever changing community to her family. She also shared of her time and talents as a Girl Scout leader. She received an Associate of Science degree from Asnuntuck Community College and was previously employed as an Administrator at Travelers, Cigna and the Springfield Armory. Vera was an avid reader and published writer who especially enjoyed following the exploits of the British royal family. A television fan and a true action movie enthusiast, she loved having company to watcha movie or show. She and her many home care companions enjoyed endless hours of “Murder, She Wrote” – her favorite! In life and in death, a wife, mother, and grandmother, she joins her husband Clifton while saying goodbye to her children Peter C. Felix and his wife, Elizabeth Walpole Felix of Somers, Alane F. Powell and her husband, Thomas of Canton; six grandchildren, Lawrence, Joseph and Emma and Ted, Kimberly and Jonathan. Vera had five brothers, Alfred King (decd) Raymond King (decd) Robert King, Ronald King and Harold King and many nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Monday December 23, 2019 at Sacred Heart Church 395 Chestnut St, Springfield, MA at 10:00 AM. Calling hours will be held at Somers Funeral Home 354 Main Street, Somers, CT on Monday December 23, 2019 from 8:00 AM until 9:00 AM. Burial will follow the Mass at Somers Center Cemetery, Somers, CT.
