Obituary for Walter James Shanley

Walter J. Shanley, 77, of East Windsor, beloved husband of Pattyann (Brewer) Shanley, entered into Eternal Rest on Friday, December 13, 2019. He was born on October 29, 1942 in Bangor, ME, the loving son to the late Thomas and Shirley (Robertson) Shanley. Wally was a longtime advocate of baseball and trained to pitch from the age of 6 through college, he and William Cohen (State Representative). He was credited with two no-hitter games, and he was a Red Sox fan for many years. Wally joined the US Marine Corps and served honorably during the Vietnam War. Following his time in the service, he worked for Delta Industries before going to work for the United States Postal Service, retiring as Postmaster.
In addition to his loving wife of 45 years, Pattyann (Brewer) Shanley, he is survived by his children, Paul Shanley of Deerfield, NH, Ronald Mailhoit and his wife Linda of Newport, NC, Roger Mailhoit and his wife Renee of Enfield, and Robert D. Mailhoit (who was at his side for many days before he passed) and his wife Janet of Enfield; 7 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; his brother, Thomas Shanley and his wife Lynne of Clifton, ME; his sister, Jackie Stewart and her husband Lester of Colorado Springs, CO; and his nieces and nephews.
A service honoring Walter's life will be celebrated on Friday, January 3, 2020 at 9:30 AM at Leete-Stevens Enfield Chapels, 61 South Rd, Enfield. Burial with Military Honors will follow at the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Agawam, MA. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 825 Brook St, Rocky Hill, CT 06067.
