Obituary for Warren A Francis

Warren A. Francis, 77, of East Granby, beloved husband of Beverly (Greaves) Francis, peacefully passed away at his home on Saturday, April 3, 2021. He was born in the Bronx, NY on July 30, 1943, son of the late Mabel Francis. The love of music played a dominant role in Warren’s life. He was an accomplished musician, playing the French Horn from childhood. Warren was a member of the New York City Orchestra in his youth and went on to play in several orchestras and other musical venues throughout his life, including the Farmington Valley Symphony Orchestra. He also had many speaking engagements on music, including preconcert talks with the Hartford Symphony Orchestra and a PBS Radio program with Ken Jacobsen. Warren’s passion for music and his impeccable memory served him well in his career in the Audio and Stereo business, where he worked as a salesman for Fred Locke Stereo in Avon and later Take 5 Audio in New Haven. Through his musical endeavors, his engaging intellect and his sense of humor, he acquired many close friends. He also had a love of books and enjoyed a good game of chess.
In addition to his beloved wife Beverly, Warren is survived by his son, Colin Francis of Cromwell; his sister, Alice Leigh of Poughkeepsie, NY; his grandchildren, Connor Francis and Cameron Francis, and their mother Cindy Francis of Springfield, MA; his nephew Preston Leigh and his niece Jennifer Leigh of Poughkeepsie, NY; his niece Jocelyn Leigh of Tucson, AZ; his nephew Douglas Leigh, DDS of Northampton, MA, and many other extended family members and friends. Services will be private, at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, donations in Warren’s memory may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
