Obituary for Irene V. Lacey (Voskowsky)

Irene V. Lacey, 84, of Enfield CT, widow of Clarence A. Lacey (1995), and loving mother and grandmother entered into eternal peace Saturday Nov. 2, 2013 at Hartford Hospital. The daughter of the late William and Falia (Kolnicke) Voskowsky, Irene was born at the old homestead and raised in Granby, CT. She has been a resident of the Enfield community since 1961. She was formerly employed at The Travelers Insurance Co., American Airlines, and lastly Continental Cable where she retired as customer service supervisor. In her free time, Irene enjoyed the outdoors, especially camping with her husband and family. She was also an animal lover and a coin collector and a big fan of the Boston Red Sox. Irene cared for everyone, she was a mother and a friend to all. She is survived by her two sons, Glenn Scott Lacey and his wife Kristen of Tualatin, OR, and James Bradford Lacey, his wife Susan of El Dorado Hills, CA; and her beloved granddaughter, Callan Taylor Lacey; brothers, Edward (Eddie) Voskowsky and his wife Barbara of Granby, Henry (Hank) Voskowsky and his wife Henrietta of Sarasota, FL; and a sister, Eleanor (Nellie) Sinott of Granby. Besides her husband, Irene was predeceased by four sisters, Hedwig Wimpfheimer Alcott, June Dworak, Genevieve (Gene) Gogswell, and Fela Voskowsky. Family and friends are invited for visitation from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday Nov. 5th , 2013 at Leete-Stevens Enfield Chapels, 61 South Rd., Enfield. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday Nov. 6th at The Enfield Congregational Church, 1295 Enfield St., Enfield, CT (Please meet at the church). Committal will follow at Enfield Street Cemetery. Donations in Irene’s memory may be made to the ASPCA, 424 E. 92nd St., New York, NY 10128-6804.
