Obituary for Robert J. Sas Sr.

Robert John Sas, Sr., 65, of Enfield, beloved husband of forty years to Stasia (Surriner) Sas, died on Sunday, August 7, 2005 at his home. He was surrounded by his family. He leaves behind his four children: Chris (Sas) Orefice, Lynn (Sas) Grismala, Mary Anne Sas, and Robert J. Sas, Jr., all of Enfield. He has nine grandchildren: Taylor Sas, Kasey, Sam, Jackie and Nick Orefice, and Ryan, David, Alex and Adam Grismala. He is also survived by his mother-in-law, Mary Surriner; his sister-in-law Marcia Surriner; his brother and sister-in-law, Walter and Jeanette Sas; a sister, Helen Stroiney and several nieces and nephews, including the Reverend Thomas J. Sas, Pastor of Saint Ann’s Church, Avon, CT. He will be greatly missed by his dear friends Al Legar and many more who stood by him. He is predeceased by his parents, John and Julia (Dudek) Sas; a brother, Teddy Wrona; brothers-in-law Stanley, Gene and Paul Surriner; two nieces Lisa Surriner and Ann-Marie Sacheli. He retired in 1997 from State Line Construction. He was a member of the North Thompsonville Fire Department as well as the Polish Home. He loved Elvis, NASCAR, Dale Earnhart, Jr. and antique cars. Family and friends are invited to gather by 9 AM on Wednesday, August 10, 2005, for a procession to Saint Adalbert’s Cemetery, Enfield, where interment services will be held at 10 AM. The Sas Family will receive their relatives and friends during calling hours at Leete-Stevens Enfield Chapels, 61 South Road, Enfield, on Tuesday, August 9 from 4 - 7:30 PM. A Funeral Service will follow the calling hours at Leete-Stevens Enfield Chapels on Tuesday evening at 7:30 PM. The Reverend Edmund M. O’Brien, Pastor of Saint Adalbert’s Church, will officiate. The family requests that memorial donations be made to: The Robert John Sas, Sr. Memorial Fund.
