Obituary for Thomas E. Meehan

Thomas  E.  Meehan
Thomas E. Meehan, of Windsor Locks, CT passed away on Thursday, May 30, 2013, with his loving wife at his side. He was born on January 16, 1954, in Hartford, CT and lived most of his life in Windsor Locks, CT. Tom was the son of the late John and Eileen (Tromley) Meehan. He attended St. Mary’s School, Windsor Locks High School and graduated from Bates College in Lewiston, Maine.

Tom was employed at Modern Drug Store where he met many friends also Video Galaxy, R.J. Reynolds and Frito Lay. Tom as a parishioner of St. Joseph Church in Suffield.

He leaves behind his devoted wife of 23 years, Stella (Durand) Meehan, who cared for him through his many illnesses. He also leaves his mother-in-law Paulette Durand and his extended family in France. His brother, William Meehan of Minnesota; three sisters and their spouses, Mary Ann and Chet Watters of Rocky Hill, Eileen and Frank Leffman of Florida, Kathy and Tom Tirone of Ellington; his sister-in-law and husband, Gina and John Obermeier of Windsor Locks and many nieces and nephews locally as well as in France. Tom also leaves behind a very special couple, Betty and Lonnie Pollard of Washington State and many friends.

Tom was predeceased by two brothers, James and John and his sister, Betty Meehan-Black. We would like to thank all the wonderful doctors who cared for Tom: Dr. George Donahue, Dr. John Polio, Dr. Gary Belt, Dr. Jenny Sauk, Dr. Jorge Diez, Dr. Stephen Wolfe, Dr. Robert Bedard, Dr. Michael Reale, Dr. Paul Powers and others.

Relatives and friends are welcome to join the family on Friday, June 7, 2013, from 5 to 7 pm at the Windsor Locks Funeral Home, 441 Spring St., Windsor Locks. A Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated on Saturday, June 8, 2013, at 10 am at St. Joseph Church, 140 South Main St., Suffield. (Please meet at the church). Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Windsor Locks. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to St. Joseph Church, 140 South Main St., Suffield, CT 06078. In your charity please pray for the repose of the soul of Thomas E. Meehan.
