Obituary for Geno L. Bologna

Geno L.  Bologna
Geno L. Bologna, 82, of Enfield, entered into eternal rest on Friday, January 14, 2011, at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield, MA. He was the beloved husband of Marie (DeVenero) Bologna to whom he was married for 55 years. Geno was born in Windsor Locks, CT, on September 20, 1928 to the late Battista and Frances (Biardi) Bologna. Geno attended St. Mary’s School and high school in Windsor Locks and was a member of the Windsor Locks Knights of Columbus, Riverside Council No. 26. He was a veteran of the Korean War, having served in the U.S. Marines. Geno retired from Northeast Utilities after 42 years of service. He loved “Wednesday breakfast with the boys”, the New York Giants and UConn Women’s basketball, but what he loved most of all was time spent with his family. In addition to his wife, Marie, Geno leaves his loving children, Geno Bologna and his wife, Debra, of Somers, Philip Bologna, of Enfield, and Frances Zajaczkowski, of Enfield; his adoring grandchildren, who were the light of his life, Amanda, Meghan, Jeana and Cara Zajaczkowski, and Philip, Geno and Joseph Bologna; his siblings, Alfred Bologna, Raymond Bologna, Josephine Colli, Sylvia Austin, and Muriel Jarvis; and many loved nieces, nephews and dear friends. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his siblings, Louise Casinghino, Frances Nai, Gloria Herrick, Pauline Roncari and John Bologna. Family and friends may gather at Leete-Stevens Enfield Chapels, 61 South Road, Enfield on Thursday, January 20, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. for a procession to St. Adalbert Church, 90 Alden Avenue, Enfield where a Mass of Christian Burial in celebration of Geno’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow at St. Adalbert’s Cemetery. His family will receive relatives and friends at Leete-Stevens on Wednesday, January 19, from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. Donations in Geno’s memory may be made to St. Adalbert Church, 90 Alden Avenue, Enfield, CT 06082, or to the Enfield Community Ambulance Fund, P.O. Box 1249, Enfield, CT 06083.
