Helen A.  Kulas (Golon)
Helen (Golon) Kulas, 93, of Windsor Locks, passed away on December 23, 2010. She was the widow of the late Anthony Kulas, Sr. Helen was born Feb. 5, 1917 in Suffield, daughter of the late Julius and Frances (Kozon) Golon, one of 11 children. She was a communicant of St. Joseph's Church in Suffield. Helen lived most of her life in Windsor Locks where she raised five children. She was involved with the Democratic Committee and worked with the late Ella Grasso for many years and she was also a Justice of the Peace. She was very artistic and made beautiful cakes, enjoyed crocheting and many were honored to receive her creations. She enjoyed many years playing bingo with her late bingo partner, Geraldine Kulas. Helen was very proud to be involved with the people in locating the crash site of Lt. Bradley's plane which she witnessed in 1941. Helen was a very hard worker, since the age of 14. She was employed for Standard Bellows Co. for over 30 years until her retirement at age 84. She is survived by her daughter Christine Whipple of Windsor locks, with whom she resided. Her son Anthony Kulas, Jr. and his wife Janet of FL, her daughter Carolyn Depka and her husband Lee of FL, her son Jerome Kulas and his wife Emily of Somers, and her son David Kulas and his partner Ann Caye of Windsor Locks; She also leaves six grandchildren, Mark Depka, Jerry, Jr., Jeffrey, Tony, and Susan Kulas and Linda Thiery; also three great-grandchildren, Jessica, LeeAnn, and Briana. She also leaves her faithful companion Sasha, whom she enjoyed singing to and going for car rides. Helen also leaves her brother Frank Golon of East Granby and her sister Anna Tkacz of Suffield. Helen was predeceased by her brothers, Edward, Phil, William, Joseph, Steve, and Julian Golon and her sisters Vicky Potter and Jane Sasali. She also leaves many nieces and nephews. Helen's family wishes to thank her frequent visitors, Millie, Joe, Marilyn, and Donald, whom she enjoyed reminiscing the "old times." Also, they would like to thank her dear friend Stan who delivered the church bulletin every week and shared many words of wisdom with her. Her family also wishes to thank the Windsor Locks Ambulance Assn. and Hospice for their compassionate care. Helen's funeral will be held 9 a.m. Wed. Dec. 29th at the Windsor Locks Funeral Home 441 Spring St., Windsor Locks where a procession will form for a 10 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Joseph Church in Suffield. Committal will follow at St. Joseph's Cemetery in Suffield. Helen's family will receive relatives and friends at the Windsor Locks Funeral Home Tues.
