Phyllis M. (Guitard) Rhodes, 88, of Enfield, died peacefully on Sunday, January 31, 2016 at Hartford Hospital. Born in Westbrook, Maine, on November 24, 1927, daughter of the late Raymond and Olive (Chambers) Guitard, Phyllis lived in Hartford and East Hartford until she was 77 years old. For the last eleven years she resided at the St. Joseph's Residence in Enfield, Little Sisters of the Poor. Prior to moving to Enfield, Phyllis was a parishioner of St. Mary’s Church, East Hartford. She leaves her loving son, Mark Rhodes, of Enfield, and her adoring niece, Cindy McGarvey of West Springfield, Massachusetts. She also leaves her sisters, Janet McGarvey, Lorraine Metevier, Hazel Wilson and Eleanor Savoir and her brother Clarence Guitard, as well as many nieces, nephews and friends. She will be dearly missed. She was predeceased by brothers Thomas, Raymond, Gerald and Philip Guitard and sister Shirley Guitard. The family would like to thank the wonderful and warm staff at St Joseph's Residence in Enfield for the kind, compassionate care they gave to Phyllis during the past eleven years and for making her stay there a home she loved. Very special thanks goes to Lucy Schools for her constant loving care.
