Lots of memories!

One of my first memories is of Nancy and I playing Barbies on the living room floor, and Mrs W'bee saying "Roger! You've GOT to get the camera! We need pictures of these girls!" Mr. W'bee obliged--and pictures from that day are some of my favorites of Nancy and I! One weekend Nancy and I had a sleep over in her "tree house". A thunderstorm rolled through, and Mr W'bee climbed the monkey bars in the rain to help us out of the tree house and inside. Another frequent occurrence during sleep overs with Nancy: Giggling. I don't know how he stayed so patient with our giggling long into the night. It was really late when he would say "Enough girls. It's time to go to sleep." And we knew then--it really was time to go to sleep. We used to race the big wheel around the house, thumping along the side walk and then speeding along the driveway. I remember wiping out on the driveway, and Mr W'bee helping me into the house insisting the wounds needed cleaning--and then gently and cheerfully bandaging the skinned knees--literally making them feel better. There are the memories of him taking us to an air show--flying us there. It was my first time in an air plane. He seemed completely unoffended that I was air sick during the flight. On several occasions over the years, Mr W'bee drove me to or from Camp. He used that opportunity to teach me some math skills. I doubt I appreciated the rate/distance/time questions at the time, but as I homeschool our children now, I often chuckle as I share the story of this gentle and loving man polishing my inept aptitude in math! He taught me to think mathematically but encouraged me when I felt "dumb." Other favorite memories: Introducing me to lobster, deep sea fishing (and tolerating more motion sickness!), water skiing and canoeing. Mr W'bee is so very loved--and is already missed!
