Obituary for John Joseph Zukowski

John J. Zukowski, 61, passed away peacefully in his home on Thursday, February 13, 2020. During his final days, John was surrounded within a circle of love and support from family and friends. Born December 3, 1958 in Hartford, CT, he was the son of the late Joseph T. Zukowski and Barbara (Scirica) McCahey.
John graduated Enfield High School, class of ’76. He then went on to serve in the U.S. Air Force. He enjoyed cooking and was Chef to many area restaurants. His passions included hunting and fishing and he enjoyed many trips around the country exploring his passions.
He is survived by his beloved daughter, Tara Lynn Zukowski; his brothers, Kevin Zukowski and his wife Michele, and David McCahey and his wife Michelle; his nieces and nephews, Jessica Blankenship, Matthew and Nicolas Zukowski and Amanda and Kyle McCahey; his uncle, Donald Zukowski, and his former wife, Kathy Gable. Also family to John were his lifelong friends, Mark Lamagna and his wife Nina, and Brian Poudrette and his wife Kelly.
A loving father, brother, uncle and friend, John will be missed by all who knew him.
Family and friends are invited to attend a graveside service to be held on Saturday, February 29, 2020, 12 pm, at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Hill Street, Suffield.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 825 Brook St., I-91 Tech Ctr., Rocky Hill, CT 06067. For online condolences, please visit www.leetestevens.com.

I also met John at Chicago Sam’s and worked with him for many years. We had a difference of opinion on occasion but friends we became and then he became one of our family. Sad we are but happy the pain for John is over. I will always look at the field behind my house and think of him and Mark hunting deer. Our deepest condolences to his family and friends.

JohnZukowski the cook, is how we met but it didn't last, he became Friend and Family as he should he was John the cook.

John we will always remember you and the years we spent working together, the good old days.
